Crappie Rigs

Author Crappies are great little fish to catch. In most places where they are found, they are plentiful and fishing regulations allow for a higher bag limit. However, having the correct fishing rig is important to catch a large number.
Crappie tend to feed early in the morning and then again in the evenings. Crappies like to eat worms, insects, insect larva, young shad, minnows and small sunfish.
In the early morning when the insects are landing on the water’s surface using a dry fly is one of the most exciting ways to catch crappie. Using two or three weight rod, a #20 dry fly, and a floating fly line will give a very successful fishing experience. Also crappies travel in schools so you may be able to limit out quickly.
If you are using crickets for bait, it is best to rig them up on a #8 hook at the end of the line and a bubble about 18” above it. When you cast it out the bubble provides the weight for a medium to short cast and then floats most of the line and the cricket on the surface.
If you use worms for bait a floating worm rig is popular. Tie the #8 hook on the bottom and a large bubble about 18” to 24” above the hook. A plastic worm hooked in the middle works well. Crappie’s like deep water to stay in. When they see some food at or near the surface they rise up and eat it.
If you are using a small shad crankbait the best way to rig it is just like you do for bass fishing. Put a swivel on the end of the line and attach the crankbait. Things You Need to Know About Pet Fish
Pet fish are becoming more and more popular. Pet fish are also relaxing to watch swim. From the plain bright orange to the colorful display of brilliant shades of tropical specimens, pet fish are popular. Pet fish along with other pets such as dogs and cats are being used to help the elderly, sick and disabled under an animal-assisted therapy program.
Freshwater fish is the most popular branch of the hobby, with aquarium shops, some plant nurseries garden suppliers selling a variety of fish, such as goldfish, guppies, and angelfish.
Fish watching is a soothing, relaxing hobby. When it comes to care, fish outrank any other type of animal for lack of trouble. Fish are a terrific first pet because children can play a role in caring for them. Fish make great pets for small children. Fish sometimes eat food from the tank, rocks, plants. A nice vibrant color fish means that the fish is healthy. If your fish has a pasty color and is sluggish, that is usually signs of illness so you want to keep their immune system up by feeding them a nice well balanced food that is going to help boost the immune system. A live fish can be transported in a bucket or cooler partially filled with water. A good rule of thumb is one inch of fish per gallon of water. Feeding should be limited to once or twice a day, and fish should only be fed what they will eat in 10 minutes or so.
Aquariums are easy to maintain if proper care is taken. A larger aquarium is easier to maintain. Fish that are kept in water that is significantly too warm or too cold, or even fish that are kept slightly too warm or cold for long periods often are going to be stressed and this will repress their immune systems. Keep your aquarium at the correct temperature for the fish. The best way to maintain a good temperature range is to purchase an aquarium heater that is appropriately sized for the tank, and it’s best to have one that you can program. It’s always good to change about one third of the water every week, and vacuum the gravel about once every two weeks, along with a filtration system that fits the gallon size of your aquarium, no matter how many fish or the size of tank. You might want to start with a starter aquarium and then move up to a larger aquarium.

Fish are quiet and serene pets. Although, goldfish are the most commonly kept pet fish because they live and can survive in cold water, they are the most appropriate choice if you are a budding fish enthusiast as well. They are fresh water fish and would sustain a healthy life in an aquarium or an outside pond as well.
The other variety of good fresh water fish for the beginners is platties, sword tails, guppies and mollies. Tropical fish need to be kept in an aquarium with a filter to keep the water clean consistently. For someone who wants to spend minimum time caring for a pet, the Beta fish would be an ideal choice. Beta fish or the Siamese fighting fish are inexpensive to buy and serve as a great pet for kids of all ages. They demand little room space and do not need a filter or heater. They live for an average of 2-3 years, need a tank of 2-5 gallons of water and can conveniently adapt to a pinch of flaked Beta food once a day.
If you desire a more labor intensive pet fish, consider purchasing a warm freshwater fish. The habitat and care of a warm fresh water tank is quite alike to a cold freshwater tank, only excluding the use of a heater.
If you are an experienced and more advanced pet owner, then tropical fresh water fish like a clownfish would be a brilliant option. Salt water fish tend to be available in bright, vibrant, and fluorescent like colors that everyone will enjoy watching. Buying a saltwater fish is on the expensive side as their aquarium filtration systems are costly and the salt levels and other levels in the water need to be regulated as well.
Gourami, one of the favorite choices of pet fish among owners of all ages can be bought in various, attractive colors. Usually priced between $2-3, these fish are overtly smart and can be trained to do different things like picking food from your finger. They tend to jump so you might need a lid on your tank and either lazy or active in nature, these pet fish are a delight to have.
Platy, another hot favorite among kids of all age groups comes in bright colors like red and yellow or in the zebra’s black and white stripe colors. These fish have an affinity to impregnate rather easily so be careful while asking for females if you don’t want babies. The Danio or the hyper fish can be either gold or striped and owing to their small size, should not be included in a tank with a big fish unless you don’t want them eaten.
